Stella McCartney honoured with CBE by His Majesty King Charles III

In recognition of her services to fashion and sustainability, Stella McCartney was awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by His Majesty King Charles III – wearing a custom regenerative wool dress to the Investiture Ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Humbled to be recognised for my mission to bring sustainability to fashion. As a British designer, this is such a proud and emotional day for me — not only to receive this incredible accolade from His Majesty King Charles III, but also to have been included in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s final Birthday Honours.

Stella wore a custom, tailored navy dress handcrafted in our London atelier. Its moulded hourglass shape featured boning and an internal canvas construction, cut from NATIVA™️ regenerative wool – complying with the highest levels of animal welfare, environmental protection and care for farmers and local communities. Powered by Blockchain technology, it is traceable back through the supply chain to two farms in Western Australia.

The look was accessorised with satin navy pumps from our archive, paired with a cruelty-free clutch from the Stella McCartney collection. Both are crafted from entirely vegan materials, down to the glue. British milliner Emily-London created the custom lace veil.

As part of the 2013 New Year Honours, Stella was previously named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
