Introduced for Winter 2026, the Appaloosa is a new house icon inspired by the horses Stella grew up surrounded by on her family farm in East Sussex. Bred by her parents and ridden together throughout the British countryside, these horses became part of the fabric of Stella’s childhood.
At the heart of the story is Lucky Spot, her mother Linda McCartney’s treasured Appaloosa stallion. With his distinctive markings and gentle, playful spirit, Lucky Spot holds a particularly special place in Stella’s memories. The Appaloosa bag is a tribute to that love, trust and respect between humans and animals.
Handcrafted in Italy from luxury vegan leather alternatives, the Appaloosa is a soft, unstructured day bag with a relaxed yet refined silhouette. Its equestrian-inspired details nod to the horse that inspired it, while tactile materials and considered construction give the bag a distinctly effortless feel.
For Winter 2026, the Appaloosa arrives in black, whipstitched red and tactile leopard jacquard, across two slouchy bucket sizes and a new crossbody wristlet shape.
The design takes inspiration from the Appaloosa horse’s distinctive markings – a mottled blanket pattern that begins across the rear and naturally develops and changes over time. In much the same way, the Appaloosa bag is designed to evolve with its wearer, moulding to an ever-changing personal style.
The Appaloosa continues Stella McCartney’s passion for celebrating horses as companions, teachers and symbols of our connection to the natural world.
