May 22, 2013, Shanghai. Tonight, Stella McCartney hosted a black tie dinner with a collection presentation that highlighted the designer’s eveningwear looks from her Autumn 2013 and Winter 2013 collections. Guests including: actress, Sun Li; actor, Xiu Bo Wu; model, Chen Jei Tong and many more, arrived at ballroom of the historic Astor House, a landmark building in the Bund built during British colonial Shanghai.
Musical entertainment was provided by a jazz orchestra playing a mixed selection of Chinese and Western jazz standards. Chen Lei served as emcee and entertainment throughout the vegetarian dinner was provided by Ballroom dancers dancing to Chinese favorites “The Moon Represents My Heart”and “Give me a Kiss”, Chinese acrobats performed a plate spinning act to Bonde de Role’s track “Kilo” and a contortions act to Matt Safer’s “Is that your girl” that ended with 12 acrobats forming to spell S-T-E-L-L-A all dressed in adidas by Stella McCartney.
Shanghai Opera House Prima Mezzo Soprano Wei Qian Wang sang to the crowd her cabaret rendition of the classic 1930’s song “Ye Shanghai” which turned into a sudden performance amidst the dinner guests. Models, including Du Juan, Bonnie Chen, Emma Pei, Qi Qi; dancers and the special participation of ballerina, Tan Yuan Yuan and actress/singer, Tian Yuan burst into a surprise performance of 18 couples ballroom dancing which switched into modern dance choreographed by Blanca Li to “Around the World” by Daft Punk. All the female performers were dressed in the Stella McCartney designs.

About Blanca Li
The Spanish born, France based choreographer, dancer, actress, multimedia director and filmmaker was trained as a rhythmic gymnast and studied under Martha Graham and Alvin Ailey. She is most known for her works with Daft Punk’s “Around the World,” Kanye West’s “Heard’em Say” and Paul McCartney’s “Dance Tonight” videos. Li also choreographed Stella McCartney’s London Evening Collection presentation last year. This year marks the 20th anniversary of her namesake dance company.Download pdf
