STELLA’S WORLD opens at Umeda Hankyu in Osaka, Japan

Our first-ever STELLA’S WORLD by Stella McCartney experiential and experimental space launches at leading department store Umeda Hankyu in Osaka, Japan today – bringing together our Stella community and lovers of cruelty-free fashion and food, music and Mother Earth.

Our new STELLA’S WORLD space reinterprets our brand DNA through a multipurpose hub. Inspired by our recent collaboration with legendary artist Yoshitomo Nara, it was imagined as an homage to Japan as viewed through our conscious luxury, cruelty-free lens. The space includes a shop with an edit of vegan accessories and exclusive lifestyle goods – curated by Stella herself – and an inaugural café with an all-vegan menu of sweet treats and beverages.

I have adored and admired Japanese culture for my entire life, from the music to the spirit of technological innovation and the art. ‘STELLA’S WORLD’ is a living celebration of my brand and personal heritage – we have never done a shop like this and it is our first-ever café! I wanted it to be in Japan as a way of showing my love for this country and the Stella community we have here.

Honouring Stella’s love of and heritage in music, the space is inspired by a record store and studio – with references to previous brand events held at the iconic Abbey Road Studio in London and Henson Recording Studios and Amoeba Records in Los Angeles.

Its wall décor includes classic stereos and keyboards, alongside televisions broadcasting short films from Stella McCartney’s 22-year history as a fashion house. The musical inspirations continue with 3D-printed wall treatments – designed to look like soundproofing found in recording studios. More contemporary elements include walls crafted from upcycled speakers and audio equipment, plus stainless-steel counters and clothing racks encasing iconic, original ready-to-wear pieces exclusively available at STELLA’S WORLD.

Guests will be able to explore a curated selection of limited-edition branded collector’s items and lifestyle goods, as well as select third-party items aligned with the Stella values.

Also in the experiential STELLA’S WORLD space, turntables are reimagined in our first-ever café, where visitors can enjoy vegan food and beverages. Complete the experience with a STELLATTE and Falabella Ice-Cream Cake.

Demand for vegan food is ever rising in Japan, with 5% increases predicted annually between 2021 and 2026 according to GlobalData. With animal agriculture responsible for 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions (FAO) and driving the destruction of vital ecosystems like the Amazon, we believe in making every action count and call upon our community to stop eating meat.
