Summer 2023 debuts our first-ever regenerative cotton t-shirt

Summer 2023 debuts our first-ever regenerative cotton t-shirt

Our most responsible collection to date, crafted with 87% conscious materials, Summer 2023 launches our inaugural t-shirt made from 100% regenerative cotton – the first-ever in luxury fashion. It marks another chapter in our mission to fight climate change and move the industry towards more responsible solutions.

Our Summer 2023 t-shirt uses 100% regenerative cotton sourced from our SOKTAS regenerative patch. Continuing the season’s surf-girl theme, it features a cheeky blue 'Snog a Log’ graphic on the front – embodying our commitment to using fashion and humour to deliver messages about issues that matter.

The future of fashion necessitates creating materials using methods that do not just take from Mother Earth, but give back to her. More traditional fibre production processes are slowly destroying land and soil, actively degenerating the planet’s natural resources. Our ambition is to move towards nature-positive fashion and innovate regenerative solutions

Regenerative Cotton

Our regenerative cotton comes from our partners at SOKTAS, a family-owned cotton producer based in Turkey. We have supported their transition toward regenerative agricultural practices since our partnership began in 2019.

SOKTAS have increased their land farmed regeneratively from 5 hectares to 55 in 2022. We are proud to have 100% traceability from farm to fibre, fabric to finished product. We know exactly where our regenerative cotton crops are grown down to their specific coordinates.

Regenerative sourcing methods take a holistic approach to farming, measurably improving environmental conditions and striving to benefit farmers and their surrounding communities through improved crop performance and resilience, increased revenue streams due to crop diversity and beyond. Regenerative cotton sourcing increases carbon sequestration of soils – working to tackle climate change, improving and protecting local biodiversity and putting Mother Earth first.

Leading the path forward, the Stella McCartney and SOKTAS project has gained support from LVMH Group – collaborating closely to scale the transition to regenerative materials. More recently, the brand has started collaborating with United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to develop a regenerative agriculture pilot with blockchain technology.

We have committed to using 100% regenerative, recycled or organic cotton across all of our collections by 2025.

Garments crafted from our SOKTAS regenerative cotton may feature small flecks of colour. These simply add to its individuality and should not be considered a defect.
