Regenerative Wool

Regenerative Wool

Our commitment to sourcing regenerative wool furthers our conscious vision to create a future-proof, restorative system. This material goes beyond all other means of virgin wool fibre sourcing today, bringing net-positive impacts to both the planet and people.

Why regenerative wool?

Otherwise known as nature-positive sourcing, regenerative sourcing methods go above and beyond maintaining ethical and responsible farming process. The processes required for regenerative farming focus on the soil used, the biodiversity of the farmland and a holistic approach that puts Mother Earth first.

With truly regenerative production methods, land and soil is restored – not degraded. Local communities flourish and social welfare is improved for farmers. Our long-term goal is for all our virgin natural fibres to be sourced using regenerative materials, backed by scientific measurements and data.

Our NATIVA™ partnership

We partner with NATIVA™ to ensure our wool is sourced using regenerative approaches. Our NATIVA™ wool always comes from two certified farms in Australia that comply with highest levels of animal welfare, responsible land management, environmental protection and care for farmers and local communities.

Using their unique blockchain technology, all NATIVA™ wool is traceable to its farm – guaranteeing traceability and transparency through the entire supply chain with measurable benefits. We know the exact two farms in West Australia that our sheep are herded in, responsibly and lovingly managed by farmers Di and Ian.

The wool is then transported to NATIVA™’s certified combing mills to be washed, classified and dried, before being spun into yarn by their certified spinners. Adhering to the NATIVA™ Protocol standards, these yarns are then woven or knitted into fabrics and garments for Stella McCartney.

ZQ

ZQ wool is another regeneratively farmed wool that we use in our collections, sourced from pastures across New Zealand. The ZQ standard means that wools are sourced with a commitment to animal welfare, environmental and social responsibility, quality fibre, traceability to source – measured and monitored against strict management plans.
