Beneath the Blue: Summer 2027 Runway Show

For Summer 2027, Stella McCartney asks us to look again at the creatures we consume, exploit and overlook, as warming oceans, pollution and human consumption increasingly threaten life beneath the blue – making this conversation more urgent than ever. The Stella McCartney runway show brings this conversation to life, translating the beauty and movement of the underwater world through fashion.

“To compare animals to us in order to justify our aggression is absurd; for the wolf kills out of absolute necessity, while we kill for luxury and call it justice.” - Porphyry

Since day one, the brand has proved that desirability does not have to come at the expense of life. Reinforcing that philosophy, Summer 2027 resurfaces archival silhouettes, prints and techniques from some of Stella’s most recognisable collections that serve as more than a reference, but a reminder of an unwavering mission.

Made using 100% responsible materials, the ready-to-wear collection immerses attendees within an underwater world; its movement, colour, creatures and forms translated through archival references, fluid silhouettes, sculptural knitwear and sea-life motifs. A palette of seafoam and sage green, coral and blush, light blue, cream and chocolate moves between the natural colours of the coast and ocean.

Stella tailoring as we know it, is reimagined with softly structured jackets defined by dropped lapels and trousers crafted from RWS-certified wool blends. GOTS-certified cotton organza adds a sense of lightness across dresses, trenches and trousers, while technical cotton and washed nylon introduce a utilitarian edge to outerwear.

A distinctly Stella code, sportswear brings contrast to the collection; pairing second-skin leggings with boxy technical jackets – reversing these proportions, voluminous trousers are styled with minimal bralettes.

For evening, forest-friendly viscose is transformed into hand-pleated dresses, shaped into architectural silhouettes with sculptural detailing. Archive-inspired wave motifs move across lace and satin-stitch hems, while crystals and an archival ombré sequin story bring an elevated finish to evening dressing.

Knitwear explores transparency and structure, with fish wire shaping crinoline hems and sculptural silhouettes inspired by oyster forms. Lighter interpretations emerge in fine cotton rib, with striped and colour-blocked dresses adding a graphic quality.

For denim and jersey, vintage-inspired airbrushed dolphin graphics are printed on dresses and T-shirts alongside crinoline hems and sporty jersey. 100% recycled denim appears in new washes and proportions.

Stella’s iconic accessories continue to evolve, with transparent Falabella bags crafted using recycled PET bottles and TPU made from recycled plastic waste. A new heart-shaped Ryder silhouette joins the collection, while Appaloosa is reimagined in a new mini shoulder bag.

Footwear continues the collection’s exploration of transparency and archival codes, while adidas by Stella McCartney’s Autumn Winter 2026 trainers are styled with three looks.
