Autumn 2022: Tailoring a foundational wardrobe of Stella icons

Autumn’s story speaks of the ambitious Stella woman and the foundational staples that she cannot be without. The Autumn 2022 collection takes us back to our brand roots, revisiting and respecting them as well as adding a progressive twist, full of the dualities that make and establish a Stella icon.

During her years at Central Saint Martins, Stella was tutored in the foundations of British fashion by Savile Row tailor Edward Sexton – her father’s suit-maker. Inspired by her parents’ stage-wear and shared wardrobe, she has continued to build collections around tailoring ever since her runway debut in 2002.

For Autumn 2022, staple suiting is given a 70s reboot: slim-cut blazers in neutral tones made from recycled materials are elevated with metal orb belts that delicately accentuate the waist. Trousers are cropped and refreshed in a nostalgic bootcut silhouette, tapping into Stella codes – a fearless dichotomy of masculinity and femininity.

Injecting some technicolour to the edit is a vibrant teal pinstripe suit, a statement-making twist on a Stella icon. Consciously crafted from recycled materials, the jacket has a sharply defined waist, peak lapels and bold padded shoulders, a display of Stella’s Savile Row roots. They are matched to trousers with an exaggerated bootcut.

Continuing the theme of emphasising the body’s sexiest curves, a camel blazer highlights a ribbed panel to tightly accentuate the waist. Boxy and masculine, pair them with crisp straight-leg tailored trousers.

Step outside the boundaries with the grey two-piece – elevated with a daring flash of animal print and borrowing country spirit with Stella’s first-ever vegan cowboy boots.
