INTRODUCES NEW STORE DESIGN CONCEPT
SECOND STORE IN PARIS OPENS;
FLORENCE, SOUTH COAST PLAZA AND MADISON AVENUE OPENINGS FOLLOW OVER NEXT 2 MONTHS
London May 9th 2017: Stella McCartney opens 4 new key store locations over the next 2 months with a new store design concept. The designer’s second store in Paris at 231 Rue Saint Honoré in the 1st arrondissement is the first of the upcoming retail openings between now and mid-July. Additional openings in Florence on Via Dei Tosinghi, South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California, and a second store in New York City at 929 Madison Avenue will follow. This recent retail expansion follows on the brand’s official takeover of their store operations in Hong Kong last summer which included 3 freestanding store locations. The new store designs will reflect the brand’s commitment to sustainability within an intimate, personal and architectural atmosphere.
Frederick Lukoff CEO of Stella McCartney comments:
“The opening of these new shops in these four key locations is fundamental to accelerate the strength of our brand and allows our current and future customers further accessibility to the Stella McCartney brand.”
The new store concept draws inspiration from Stella’s personal archive of images with designs that bring a textural human-scale experience to a retail environment. A considered effort has been made to move away from traditional luxury materials, and to use more handmade, organic and sustainably sourced elements. Bespoke fluted ceramic tiles, reclaimed timber and textural cast concrete intertwine with fun surprises in the designer’s signature paired back colour palette.
Stella McCartney comments on new store concept:
“I really wanted our customers to have an emotional reaction to the textures in the store, and not only respond to the product but also to respond to its environment. And I wanted to explore new finishings by looking at more sustainable and environmentally friendly textures that could be manipulated into a more modern, contemporary feel.”
Throughout the new space an intricate brass rail system connects various product categories within the stores and creates a journey throughout the spaces. The muted backdrop becomes a canvas to showcase Stella’s modern and sophisticated luxury women’s ready-to-wear and accessories including the iconic Falabella bag and Elyse shoes, as well as lingerie and swim collections. The furniture has been personally selected by Stella from auctions and commissioned from contemporary designers to create a unique experience.
The new 180 square meter space over two floors at Rue Saint Honore follows the first Paris store at Galerie Valois of the Palais Royal gardens which opened in 2009. In addition to the 2 freestanding locations, the designer’s collections are also available in Paris at multi brand stores including Printemps, Galeries Lafayette and Le Bon Marché as well as online at www.stellamccartney.com. By the end of July the designer will have 51 freestanding stores worldwide.
