The Guthy-Jackson Foundation was created following a personal family crisis when the daughter of California-based founders, Bill Guthy and Victoria Jackson, was officially diagnosed with NMO in June 2008.

The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation is dedicated to funding scientific research to find answers that will lead to the prevention, clinical treatment and a potential cure for Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) Spectrum Disease which makes the body’s immune system attack its own healthy cells, most commonly in the optic nerves and spinal cord. It can cause temporary or permanent blindness and/or paralysis, and may have periods of remission and relapse. Find out more
